Fewer Events, More Value

Getting down to business is the overall theme of the 2011-2012 SWO programs. If you’re a writer, graphic artist, designer, developer, trainer, or manager, getting down to business  means building your career as a skilled, in-demand technical communicator. If you’re an entrepreneur as well, getting down to business means  building client loyalty and expanding your client base. Whatever your connection to technical communication, getting down to business means harnessing creativity, doing more with less, and being successful in a challenging environment. .

In 2011-2012, SWO will not hold a dinner meeting the third Wednesday of every month. Instead, we are offering a smorgasbord of value-packed programs at different intervals and in various venues during the nine-month (September through May) program year.

Meeting-to-Meeting Recycling Project:  Repurpose Some of Your Office Supplies

Crayons to Computers provides school supplies and other materials to help teachers teach and children learn, especially in elementary classrooms in lower income areas. Most teachers spend $500 to $1000 of their own money every year providing supplies for their students; C2C tries to lighten this burden. While they no longer take old computers, they always need office supplies, crafts materials, and anything else that can be used in a classroom—-even plastic kitty litter containers (clean and empty, of course).

Bring your donations to SWO-STC events. We’ll make sure they get to Crayons to Computers. You can learn more about this organization at http://www.crayons2computers.org.
