Teich Earns Associate Fellow Rank in STC

Thea Teich joins STC’s ranks of Associate Fellows at the International conference May 7 to 10 in Las Vegas.

Teich is a senior member of the Southwest Ohio (SWO) chapter. She has held numerous service positions, including President of SWO. She receives her award at the May 9 banquet in Las Vegas.

Teich was nominated by Jean Fudge, current SWO president.

“I was thrilled to nominate Thea,” Fudge said. “She’s been an inspiration to me.”

In the nomination form, Fudge emphasized that Teich continued to be active locally, even while she was president of the international STC. She remained personable, accessible, and dedicated to the root level of STC: the chapters (and SIGs). Instead of retiring after the rigors of her STC presidency, Thea continues to chair and participate in very important committees.

Teich’s award plaque states:

For your continuous contributions to the Society as a leader at the international, regional, and local levels and for your dedication to your profession.

STC confers the rank of associate fellow upon a senior member who has attained distinction in the field of technical communication. Senior members may not apply for the rank of associate fellow; they must be nominated.

In evaluating the nominees, the STC committee considers their achievements in the following:

• Significance of achievements in the field of technical communication

• Significance of original work in contributing to the advancement of technical communication

• Professional reputation within the Society

• Affiliation with other professional societies

• Professional qualifications, including academic background

• Level of professional activity

• Extent of service to the Society at the local, regional, and international levels

• Length of professional career, either as an employee, contractor, or consultant in a technical communication field
