You can make a difference! STC exists to serve the needs of technical communicators worldwide. Most people generally ask, “What can STC do for me”? We know the answer to that question! Among other benefits, STC membership includes award-winning publications, networking opportunities, educational conferences and seminars, access to the job database, newsletters, and unrestricted access to STC’s Web site.

Have you ever asked, “What can I do for STC”? I know the answer to that question! By taking a proactive role in SWO-STC, you can guide our chapter’s future and make a difference. And, you don’t need to make a huge time commitment to make a difference!

Have you ever thought “ I could do that better?” or “Why don’t they offer a topic on (fill in the blank)?” Or even, “Why don’t they hold a meeting at such and such location?”

• Share an idea – for a topic, a speaker, or a meeting location
• Run for office – get to know your peers while you help lead our chapter
• Support SWO-STC and our hardworking Programs team by attending a monthly program meeting
• Attend a LAN if you can’t attend the monthly program meetings
• Start a new SIG – online help, FrameMaker, book discussions, or…?
• Mentor a student or a newbie
• Post job openings to the Yahoo listserv – help another technical communicator find a job
• Volunteer to speak at a high school or college career fair
