Give back to your chapter. It's true what they say, “The more you give, the more you get!” Being involved in our chapter provides personal growth and networking opportunities and helps you give back to your industry and the technical communication community.

In way one or another, we all benefit from belonging to STC and the Southwestern Ohio chapter. Have you attended a program this year? Contacted another member via the membership directory? Browsed our web site to find out what’s going on? All of this information is available because of our volunteers.

As most of you know, volunteers run local STC chapters. SWO-STC has a core group of volunteers who volunteer year after year. While it’s great to have continuity, it’s even better when new volunteers share their ideas and efforts. Everyone provides a new and fresh perspective, helping our chapter grow and ensuring we’re meeting all of our members’ needs.

Why should you give back?

  • To make a difference.
  • To share your knowledge and resources.
  • To gain new skills.
  • To meet new people.
  • To gain personal satisfaction.
  • To give back to the community.
  • To have fun!

The 2003-2004 year is in full swing. There’s a lot going on in the next few months – monthly program meetings and LAN lunches, the competitions banquet on February 18th, and a half-day seminar on March 20th. You can still give back this year by helping out at a meeting, attending a LAN meeting, or helping publicize the seminar. You can give back next year volunteering on a committee or even running for office! Give back to make a lasting impact on our chapter!

As always, feel free to email me at president@stc-swo.org or call me at
(513) 754-1655 to share your ideas and ENERGY!
